The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to the United Kingdom will bring great economic benefits to Nigeria.
In a statement released by the party’s spokesperson, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the party considered the trip a strategic move to fix major infrastructure and attract new investments.
According to the statement, a major aspect of the visit is the signing of a £746 million financing deal.
This money comes from UK Export Finance to help the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Ministry of Finance.
The funds will be used to modernise the Lagos Port Complex in Apapa and the Tin Can Island Port.
The APC believes this project will make trade easier and turn Nigeria into a top shipping hub in West Africa.
The party also mentioned that Tinubu is using the trip to talk with UK government officials and investors about energy, technology, security, and education.
They noted that these discussions are part of the “Renewed Hope Agenda” to create jobs for millions of Nigerians.
The Lagos APC highlighted that the United Kingdom is a long-time friend of Nigeria.
They believe the President’s history of good leadership in Lagos shows he can use global partnerships to develop the country. The party described the trip as “purposeful global engagement” which is necessary for the nation to prosper.
In the statement, Oladejo said: “The project represents a major step toward modernizing Nigeria’s port infrastructure, enhancing trade efficiency, and strengthening the country’s position as a key maritime hub.”
The party urged all Nigerians to support the visit, noting that it will make Nigeria a better place for international business.
The Lagos APC expressed full confidence that the trip will yield lasting gains for the people.
