The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso following his recent defection from the party.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the party described the move as a calculated attempt to satisfy his personal political ambitions rather than a step to help the country.
Lagos APC Spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, maintained that Kwankwaso’s actions were driven by ego.
He noted that Kwankwaso has always made it clear that he would only move to a party that guarantees him a spot on a presidential ticket.
This, according to him, makes the defection a “political transaction” instead of a move based on shared ideas or national interest.
The party also questioned the current strength of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The Lagos APC claimed that the group is no longer a powerful force because many key leaders and stakeholders have already left it.
It was further argued that a leader who cannot keep his core supporters together cannot be seen as a major “game-changer” in national politics.
The statement further suggested that Kwankwaso’s actual political influence is being exaggerated.
The Lagos APC described the move as “opportunistic” and a reminder that true leadership is about building trust and delivering results, not just having a famous name.
The statement read, “Nigerians deserve leadership rooted in sincerity, stability, and dedication to national development.”
The party stated that it remains committed to disciplined politics and rejects moves that put individual goals ahead of the progress of the people.
