Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has flagged off a massive e-registration exercise for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking from his country home in Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area yesterday, the governor declared that the era of “fragmented politics” in Enugu is dead.
Barely three months after his high-profile defection from the PDP to the ruling party, Mbah announced an ambitious goal: to register at least two million members in the state.

Mbah emphasised that Enugu can no longer afford to sit on the sidelines of national governance.
He argued that for the state to receive the full attention of the federal government, its political support must be overwhelming rather than tokenistic.
“We have a duty to change the old order. We are not going to give 5% and expect the same treatment as those who gave 95%,” Mbah stated, referencing the state’s historical voting patterns.
“Our goal is to entrench the banner of our party in our homes so our people are not confused. We are APC in the morning, APC in the day, and APC in the night.”
Addressing concerns about internal party dynamics, the governor assured long-standing members that the influx of new registrants is intended to strengthen, not displace.
He called for a spirit of “co-mingling” to build a more viable political force for the benefit of all Enugu residents.
He said the 2-million-member target is designed to make APC the dominant party at the state, local, and ward levels.
Mbah said the use of e-registration and NIN verification ensures a transparent and verifiable database.
He said this aligned with the party structure of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme to lift millions out of poverty.
The governor highlighted that the shift to the APC is already yielding results through federal partnerships.

He noted that the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme is specifically designed to empower over 8.8 million people directly across Nigeria.
By aligning Enugu with the centre, Mbah argued, the state’s residents will have a direct pipeline to these national infrastructure, housing, and poverty alleviation schemes.
“Together, we are positioning Enugu where it belongs — at the centre of opportunity and national progress,” he said.
