A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Kayode Ojo, has accused security agencies and the state government of systematically targeting and persecuting his supporters in the run-up to the 20 June 2026 governorship election.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Wednesday, Ojo claimed that his loyalists have been subjected to unjust arrests, intimidation, unlawful detention, and the deliberate denial of legitimate entitlements.

He named several individuals allegedly facing harassment, including Bayo Aderiye from Ado Ekiti, Taiwo Fabiyi from Emure Ekiti, Obebe Oluwafemi Ayekooto from Otun Ekiti, Olugbenga Kayejo from Ikere Ekiti, and members of the APC Ward Executive in Ikoro Ekiti.
The aspirant singled out the case of one Akogun Abayomi, popularly known as Lustay, who he said was secretly detained without a warrant on 1 January.
According to Ojo, the victim has been denied access to legal counsel, family members, and essential medication, describing the action as a clear abuse of power by certain police officers whom he accused of acting on political instructions.
Kayode further alleged that some former political office holders perceived to be aligned with his camp including Bamidele Gbayigi, Omotehinse Abraham, Adelodun Bosede, Ogunjobi Busayo, and others have been unfairly denied their statutory allowances and entitlements, ostensibly as a form of political victimisation.
The allegations emerge against the backdrop of deepening divisions within the Ekiti State chapter of the APC.

Ojo and another aspirant were reportedly disqualified from the party’s primary process, paving the way for incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji to emerge as the consensus candidate.
Supporters of the disqualified aspirants, including those backing Ojo, have repeatedly voiced concerns over alleged intimidation, threats, and undemocratic manoeuvres during the internal arrangements that produced the consensus arrangement.
Some of these aggrieved supporters have called on the national leadership of the APC to intervene and restore fairness and transparency in the party’s processes in the state.
