Speaking after the closed-door session, lawmaker Dabo Ismail, who represents Toro federal constituency, said the gathering was part of ongoing consultations on political realignments in Bauchi and across Nigeria.
“We are here on a special invitation to discuss the ongoing political realignment in Nigeria, particularly in Bauchi state,” he said, adding that discussions had yielded “positive conclusions.”
The development reflects broader trends in APC political updates across Nigeria.
He noted that further engagements with stakeholders would continue, with a formal position to be announced in the coming days.
The development follows a series of political moves by Mohammed.
On April 1, the New Daily Prime reported Bala hosted Nentawe Yilwatda and Abba Yusuf in Bauchi after meeting members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) earlier, where he disclosed that he had considered joining the APC.
However, the governor had also suggested that the ruling party might not be fully receptive to his entry, hinting that the ADC could serve as an alternative platform for him and his supporters.
Meanwhile, APC stakeholders in Bauchi have urged the party’s national leadership to carry them along in any negotiations regarding Mohammed’s potential defection, highlighting internal concerns over the move.
