The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has set July 24, 2025, as the date for its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, a crucial gathering intended to nominate a new substantive National Chairman.
This decision was made public by the National Working Committee (NWC), led by Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter, following an emergency session held at the party’s national secretariat on Monday.

Mr Fuanter confirmed that the upcoming NEC meeting will provide the platform for the party to formally select a new leader.
He also noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been duly notified of the planned NEC meeting.
Meanwhile, Ali Bukar Dalori commenced his duties as the party’s Acting National Chairman on Monday.
Mr Dalori, who previously served as the APC’s Deputy National Chairman (North), assumed this interim leadership role following the recent resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje from the top position.
Mr Ganduje, representing the North-West geopolitical zone, had taken over the party’s leadership in August 2023, succeeding Abdullahi Adamu, who hailed from the North-Central zone.
In his address, Mr Dalori assured APC members of his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his new responsibilities with transparency, an inclusive approach, and a strong sense of unity.
He expressed his readiness to collaborate with all members, viewing them as partners in the collective mission to uphold the party’s unity, discipline, and strategic direction.
