The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that its existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee (NWC) positions will remain in effect ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, emphasised that the decision is aimed at guiding aspirants and maintaining stability within the party as it prepares for key internal elections.
According to the statement, the zoning formula outlined in the published 2026 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses, National Convention and Related Activities remains valid and will be strictly applied throughout the convention process.
“The existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee positions across states within the geo-political zones remains valid and applicable to the upcoming National Convention,” the statement said.
Aspirants seeking national offices have been advised to comply fully with the zoning framework when obtaining and submitting their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms. Morka stressed, “Accordingly, aspirants are advised to be STRICTLY GUIDED by the existing zoning arrangement.”
The APC explained that adhering to the zoning structure is intended to ensure fairness, balance, and orderliness in the conduct of the party’s internal processes ahead of the convention, reducing potential conflicts and promoting inclusivity among members across the nation.
The reaffirmation comes at a time when political aspirants are actively positioning themselves for key roles in the party, highlighting the importance the APC places on transparency and structured internal democracy as it prepares for one of its most significant national gatherings in recent years.
By maintaining the zoning arrangement, the party aims to foster unity among its members and provide a clear framework that aligns with established practices, ensuring that the 2026 National Convention proceeds smoothly and equitably.
