The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting a possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in the 2027 general elections, calling such stories “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless.”
In a press statement signed by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, the party urged media organizations to avoid giving platforms to “rumour-peddlers and mischievous news sources of questionable provenance” whose intentions, the party said, are to “promote discord and confusion in the polity.”

The statement noted that while media speculation about potential replacements for VP Shettima had been mostly subtle, recent reports have escalated to include specific names, prompting the APC to respond formally.
The party reiterated that under its laws and electoral regulations, the ban on political activities remains in force, and the focus remains on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The party highlighted its ongoing efforts in transforming the economy, building prosperity, and improving living conditions for Nigerians.
Morka further called on ministers, senior government officials, and party leaders to avoid actions that could stoke unnecessary speculation, urging them instead to concentrate on their duties and contribute to the success of the Tinubu administration.
The APC emphasized that President Tinubu remains “inimitable and visionary,” with the party committed to consolidating the achievements of his government as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
