The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the government’s effort over the reintroduction of monthly sanitation exercises across the state.
In a statement shared with The New Daily Prime by Lagos APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, he noted that this action portrayed the readiness and commitment of the state government in safeguarding public health, promoting environmental cleanliness, and strengthening community participation in the state.
Oladejo proceeded by stating that: “Lagos, as one of Africa’s most vibrant and rapidly growing megacities, requires collective commitment to environmental sustainability. The re-introduction of the sanitation exercise reflects the unwavering determination of the state government to uphold the highest standards of environmental management while encouraging residents to take ownership of their immediate surroundings”.
He also stated how environmental sanitation exercises in the state have, for decades, helped Lagos residents develop a culture of environmental cleanliness. Asides that, “Its return will not only help address sanitation challenges but will also promote public awareness about proper waste disposal, drainage maintenance, and environmental hygiene,” he said.
Oladejo remarked that the Lagos APC regarded the initiative as a notable strategy to address environmental hazards and sanitation-related concerns. Thus, they urged Lagos residents, community development associations, market groups, youth organisations, and civil society stakeholders to collaborate with the government to ensure its success.
The Lagos APC, then, commended the Lagos State Government once again, indicating their confidence in the proposed policy, particularly how it would transform Lagos into a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable megacity.
