Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, has stated that the recent by-election victories of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state are a strong indicator of President Bola Tinubu’s dominance in the 2027 presidential election.
Okpebholo made the statement while congratulating the winners of the Edo Central Senatorial and Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo celebrated the triumphs of Senator-elect Joe Ikpea and House of Representatives Member-elect Omosede Igbinedion.

He commended voters for their overwhelming support, which he believes solidifies the APC’s standing in the state.
According to the governor, the decisive victories for Ikpea and Igbinedion reflect the public’s confidence in their ability to serve effectively at the National Assembly.
“This victory is a clear indication of the trust and confidence the people have in Ikpea and Igbinedion’s abilities to represent their interests effectively,” he said.
Okpebholo expressed his certainty that both will become “strong and powerful voices” for the state, committed to attracting development.
Okpebholo also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election and thanked security agencies for ensuring peace.

He called on all political stakeholders to support the newly elected officials, emphasising his administration’s commitment to collaborating with all elected representatives, regardless of their political party, to advance Edo State’s progress.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Edo State, I wish Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion a successful and impactful tenure,” he said.
