Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Friday convened a special meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Leaders Caucus, aimed at consolidating party unity and laying the groundwork for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.
The meeting, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Akure, brought together statutory leaders of the APC in the state to formally establish the Ondo version of the National Caucus structure.
During his address, Aiyedatiwa called for collective action among party leaders and reiterated the need for cohesion under the party’s central leadership.
“Our strength lies in our unity,” Aiyedatiwa said.
“All support groups must operate under the State Working Committee and the Caucus. Though we do not have a governorship election coming up, our task is to deliver a decisive victory for President Tinubu in 2027—especially here in the South-West.”
The governor also briefed the gathering on the development strides of his administration since the start of his first full term in February.
He further revealed the National Economic Council’s decision to launch the “Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme”, a grassroots-focused initiative designed to deliver development projects directly to local communities.
At the end of the deliberations, party leaders unanimously endorsed Tinubu’s second-term bid, unveiling a support structure named “Ondo State for Tinubu 2027.”
The Caucus appointed Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, Secretary to the State Government, and APC State Secretary Roseline Okafor to coordinate the secretariat of the new structure.
The meeting was attended by top political figures, including Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami; former deputy governors Alhaji Ali Olanusi and Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo; Senators Jide Ipinsagba and Adeniyi Adegbonmire; and former Senators Titus Olupitan and Remi Okunrinboye.
Also present were House of Assembly Speaker Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, former Speakers Kenneth Olawale, Victor Olabimtan, and Bamidele Oleyeloogun, as well as Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Ololade Gbegudu and other former deputy speakers.
Members of the House of Representatives at the event included Abiola Makinde, Derin Adesida, and Jimi Odimayo, alongside ex-lawmakers Ifedayo Abegunde, Gbenga Elegbeleye, Kolawole Babatunde, and Tajudeen Adefisoye.
