The only All Progressives Congress (APC) member in the Abia State House of Assembly, Anderson Akaliro, has officially resigned from the party, citing persistent internal conflicts and feelings of marginalization as his primary reasons for leaving.
Representing the Umuahia North constituency, Akaliro made his decision public through a formal letter addressed to the APC chairman in Umuahia North Local Government Area.
In this letter, he declared his full support and alignment with the administration of Governor Alex Otti, whom he described as a visionary leader committed to transformative and development-focused governance in Abia State.
In his resignation letter, Akaliro detailed the challenges within the APC, pointing to ongoing factional disputes that have significantly disrupted the party’s operations in the state.
He expressed frustration over the lack of unified and cohesive leadership, which he believes has hindered the party’s ability to function effectively.
Akaliro further accused the APC leadership in Abia of deliberately sidelining him, noting that he was consistently excluded from key party meetings, events, and decision-making processes.
“I was not being invited to any meeting or event by the APC leadership,” he stated, emphasizing the extent of his marginalization.
Akaliro further criticised the chaotic internal dynamics of the APC in Abia, specifically highlighting the recurring cycle of suspensions and counter-suspensions among party members.
