Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has declared that only aspirants with undeniable records of achievement in their current or previous positions will receive the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday during the commissioning of constituency projects alongside the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Chief Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

Represented by the state APC chairman, Chief Stanley Emegha, Governor Nwifuru warned that those without visible achievements in their constituencies should not bother seeking re-election, insisting the party would not repeat the mistakes of 2023.
“The time for stock-taking has come, and only those with results and visible achievements will be considered again to fly our party’s tickets for the next general elections,” he stated.
“Those who have nothing to show for their years of representation will have themselves to blame as the party will not like to repeat its mistakes in 2027.”

Senator Nwebonyi, who was at the centre of the project commissioning, said he was driven by the desire to complement Governor Nwifuru’s developmental efforts in the senatorial district. He pledged to establish a benchmark in representative governance that would be difficult, if not impossible, to surpass if re-elected in 2027.
“Your Excellency, our Governor and our leader, I was motivated to embark on these projects outside my core legislative duties of lawmaking and oversight functions, to complement your efforts in our senatorial district,” the senator told the gathering.
Projects commissioned and inspected during the event included roads, classroom blocks, street lights and several other infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents in Ebonyi North.
The governor’s position signals a shift towards performance-based selection within the APC in Ebonyi, as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle with an emphasis on accountability and tangible delivery.
