Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency of Oyo State have unanimously adopted a zoning arrangement to bolster the party’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached at a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting held yesterday in Igboora, headquarters of Ibarapa Central Local Government Area. More than 40 party leaders were present.

A communiqué issued after the meeting and jointly read by Chairman Francis Babalola and Secretary T.A. Aderenle outlined the new zoning formula.
Under the agreement, the House of Representatives ticket has been allocated to Ibarapa North Local Government Area, while Ibarapa Central Local Government Area will produce the party’s candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The stakeholders described the arrangement as “non-negotiable,” emphasizing strong grassroots support and the need to maintain internal cohesion.
The communiqué warned that any attempt to alter the framework would undermine the emerging unity within the constituency. “The message from the grassroots is consistent and unmistakable.
This is the direction the people want, and anything contrary will be seen as going against the collective interest of the constituency,” it stated.
Party leaders noted that adherence to the zoning formula had become a key measure of discipline and loyalty. They drew lessons from the 2023 general elections, when internal divisions were widely blamed for the APC’s poor performance in the constituency and across the state.

The current consensus, they said, was designed to eliminate ambiguity and promote coordinated political engagement.
The stakeholders also cautioned against external interference, insisting that decisions affecting the constituency remained the exclusive responsibility of local party members. Any attempt to override the arrangement from outside, they added, could provoke resistance and weaken the party’s support base.
The zoning deal has already begun to generate momentum and restore confidence among members. Stakeholders believe that sustaining the framework will be essential to consolidating recent gains and positioning the APC for a stronger showing in 2027.
