According to Zicsaloma, his early business ventures failed largely due to what he described as an “entitled” attitude from family members towards his income.
“I did a lot of businesses while growing up, but most of them failed because of family. African families, even your own family, can feel entitled to your wealth, even when the purpose of working is to save money and build a better future,” he said.
He stressed that achieving financial freedom sometimes requires making tough, unpopular decisions, even with loved ones.
“It is very okay to be financially heartless, even to your friends and family, so that you can save up and break that cycle. They will hate you for it, but trust me, it is for your own good,” Zicsaloma added.
The skit maker’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the balance between family responsibilities and personal financial growth.
