The Niger State Government has directed all private schools in the state to suspend the planned resumption of academic activities scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, pending the announcement of an official date.
The directive was issued in a public notice by the Niger State Private Schools Board and signed by its Information Officer, Khadijat Umar, on January 2, 2026.

According to the notice, the approved resumption date for private schools will be formally announced by the Executive Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago.
The board warned that any private school that resumes without government approval will face immediate closure.
It explained that the decision is intended to ensure uniformity and compliance with state regulations guiding academic calendars.
Private school proprietors and administrators were urged to comply with the directive and await further instructions from the state government.
This is coming weeks after abduction of school children in Niger State which forced the state to close down all schools in the state.
