A suspected drug peddler has been killed during a police operation in Katsina state.
According to Zagazola Makama, a security expert and counter insurgency police sources said the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, at about 10:00 pm in Sabuwar Anguwa area of Katsina local government.

“Operatives of the Central Market Surveillance Team, led by ASP Audu Isah, raided the area following credible intelligence and arrested one Uzairu Abubakar, also known as Uzairu Kuda, said to be a notorious drug dealer and a member of the Kauraye gang”, he quoted the source to have said.
The suspect was reportedly found in possession of substances believed to be Indian hemp, Pregabalin tablets and Colorado.
“Abubakar resisted arrest and raised an alarm, attracting other gang members who attacked the police team and damaged the rear windscreen of a covert Honda Jazz vehicle”, sources said
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the team’s second-in-command, ASP Ibrahim Yusuf, on the neck with a knife.
Police said an officer fired his weapon in response, injuring the suspect, who was rushed to the General Hospital in Katsina, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The suspected drugs and the knife were recovered as exhibits, while the corpse was released to the family for burial.
Police said investigation is ongoing and efforts are underway to arrest other members of the gang.
