Eight persons accused of child trafficking have been arraigned before the Minna Chief Magistrate’s Court by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Niger State Police Command.
The suspects were arrested in Nasarawa State and parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for allegedly stealing children from communities in Niger State and selling them for amounts said to be as high as ₦1.1 million.

Police prosecutors told the court that investigations showed the children were allegedly abducted from areas including Lambata and Sabon Wuse before being sold to buyers who were reportedly aware that the children were stolen.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to charges bordering on kidnapping, human trafficking and unlawful confinement.
Ruling on the matter, the Chief Magistrate ordered the remand of the suspects at the Minna Old Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until January 5, 2026, for further hearing.
