Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Segibo emphasised the Council’s commitment to transparency and inclusive governance.
He explained that the Citizens’ Budget is designed to make the Council’s financial plans accessible and understandable to all residents.
“The core purpose of this budget is to promote transparency and accountability, encourage public participation, enhance governance outcomes, and support informed decision-making,” the Chairman stated.
During the engagement, participants voiced concerns about staffing shortages in primary health centres, inadequate educational facilities, and security challenges, particularly in volatile communities such as Ukubie.
Stakeholders urged the Council to prioritise these areas in the upcoming budget.
Responding, the Chairman reassured attendees that the Assured Prosperity Administration, under Governor Douye Diri, remains committed to addressing these issues through targeted policies and practical interventions.
He also called for sustained collaboration between the Council and community members to ensure development initiatives are effectively implemented.
