Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of five suspects causing unrest and other social vices in Minna, the capital of the state.
In a statement released by Wasiu Abiodun, the police spokesman, black spots at Tudun-Natsira, Baida, Angwan-Kaje, PZ Area, Sabon-Gari, Abdulsalami Quarters, and other parts of Gwari Market in the state capital were raided.
“In continuation of the fight against thuggery and other social vices in Minna, on October 18, 2025, at about 9 p.m., police operatives attached to ‘A’ and ‘B’ Divisions conducted raids on black spots at Tudun-Natsira, Baida, Angwan-Kaje, PZ Area, Sabon-Gari, Abdulsalami Quarters, and parts of Gwari Market in Minna during the raid operation.
The suspects are namely: Yunusa Yusuf of Angwan-Kaje, arrested with suspected cannabis; Mubarak Lawan (MBK), also arrested with suspected cannabis; Aliyu Magaji of PZ Area, arrested with a sword, a machete, and scissors; Ibrahim Kabiru of Saiko; and Abdullahi Yusuf of Gurara, arrested with 20 wraps of suspected cannabis.

Abiodun further said that the suspects were under investigation. “All suspects are under investigation and they will be charged to court for prosecution, while monitoring and raid operations continue,” his statement added.
Two House Burglars Arrested
In another development, the Police Command attached to the Bosso area of the state arrested hoodlums who broke into houses within Bosso.
Abiodun released a statement on Sunday that another five suspected criminals were arrested and were all residents of the Bosso area of the state.
His statement reads: “Recently, on August 27, 2025, at about 3 p.m., a report was received at Bosso Division from Bosso Low-Cost area which indicated that on August 24, some unidentified hoodlums broke into a house within Bosso Low-Cost area and stole four steel doors, two burglary proofs, twenty-four windows, about twenty-four metres of borehole cable, and twelve bags of cement.”
“Based on diligent investigation and technical intelligence, the following five suspects were arrested in connection to the crime within the month of October 2025,” Abiodun added.
“James Peter, 22 years; Abdullahi Sani, 26 years; Abubakar Moh’d Abba, 17 years; Umar Usman Tasha, 34 years; and Aliyu Usman Tasha, 27 years — all of Bosso area, Minna.”
He said, “The suspects confessed to the crime and sold the steel doors to one Nasiru Umar, 35 years, of Angwan-Kanawa, and Gambo Alhaji, 35 years, of Saiko, at the rate of ₦17,000 and ₦18,000 respectively.
The stolen items were sold to Suleiman Isah, 25 years, and Usman Mohammed, 23 years, both of Hayin-Gwari. The four receivers were also arrested at different locations.”
He further explained that items recovered include two doors, four windows, and one burglary proof, adding that the investigation was concluded and all suspects were charged to court on October 13, 2025.
