Nigerian music legend and evangelist, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has called on Nigerian students to apply their knowledge and skills towards inspiring positive change and contributing meaningfully to national development.
Obey-Fabiyi gave the charge during the signing-out ceremony of 79 students from the sixth graduating set of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, held at the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute, Abeokuta Centre, on Saturday.
The veteran musician, who is also the founder of the institute, urged the graduates to let their achievements reflect the core values of discipline, hard work, and service to humanity, stressing that the goal of education goes beyond acquiring certificates.

He explained that the establishment of the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute was part of his lifelong commitment to youth empowerment, moral education, and social development through skill acquisition and creative learning.
“I encourage you to use the knowledge and skills you have gained to transform lives and uplift society,” Obey-Fabiyi said. “The future of Nigeria rests in the hands of young people like you, and you must be ready to lead with integrity, diligence, and a sense of purpose. Education without moral values is incomplete. We must strive to make a difference wherever we find ourselves.”
Also speaking at the event, Dr. Lateef Mustapha, Director of the Centre for Part-Time and Professional Studies, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, described the graduation ceremony as a celebration of resilience, creativity, and lifelong learning.
He noted that the partnership between the university and the Ebenezer Obey Institute demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to higher education, one that integrates academic knowledge, entrepreneurship, and moral discipline.
Mustapha reminded the graduates that true success would not be measured by academic grades alone, but by the positive impact they make in their communities and workplaces.
In his goodwill message, Professor Sabiru Adesanya, former Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, commended the Ebenezer Obey Institute for its contributions to human capacity development in Nigeria.
He urged the graduates to uphold the values instilled in them by the institution and to be worthy ambassadors of both the university and the institute. “You have been well prepared not only for the labour market but for leadership in society,” Adesanya said.
Earlier, Mr. Adekunle Durosinmi, Director of the Ebenezer Obey Music and Life Skills Institute, described the event as a major milestone in the institute’s pursuit of academic and moral excellence.
He expressed delight at the growing number of students who have passed through the centre, noting that it reflects public confidence in its quality of education and skill-based training.
Durosinmi reaffirmed the management’s commitment to maintaining high standards and expanding opportunities for young Nigerians seeking quality tertiary education and professional advancement.
The 79 graduates were drawn from various academic disciplines, including Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration, and Mass Communication, marking another successful academic year for the institute’s collaborative programme with Al-Hikmah University.
