As part of efforts to implement Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s digitisation agenda, the Anambra State Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Agency has successfully launched 25 live public Wi-Fi sites across the state.
The Managing Director of the Agency, Fred Agbata, disclosed this on Friday during a media engagement with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Awka. He described the “Solution WiFi” project as a people-centred initiative anchored in Soludo’s “People’s Manifesto”, which promised to deliver affordable and eventually free internet access in public spaces.
“These hotspots are not just infrastructure; they are lifelines,” Agbata said. “They democratise internet access for students, traders, civil servants, and everyday Ndi Anambra, bridging information divides and fostering inclusion.”
He noted that the 25 active sites are located in schools, student lodges, public areas, and key government institutions. Some of the locations include Aroma Junction, UNIZIK Junction (Temp Site), Jerome Udorji Secretariat, State House of Assembly, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, College of Health Obosi, and various student lodges such as Ada Jesus, Living Spring, and Novena.

Agbata emphasised that the initiative is not only about connectivity but also about transforming governance. According to him, executive council proceedings in the state have been fully digitised, and this shift is now extending into ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), enabling smarter and faster operations.
“The Anambra State ICT Agency was established to drive digital transformation. Our mandate is to ensure that ‘everything technology, technology everywhere’ becomes a lived reality,” he said.
He highlighted other reforms under Governor Soludo, including the Right of Way (RoW) waiver, which has facilitated greater broadband penetration, and the use of digital platforms to streamline civil service operations.
“The story of Anambra’s digital transformation is still unfolding, but the foundation is strong and unshakable,” Agbata stated. “We are building a future where technology works for the people — creating a smart, liveable, and prosperous megacity that leaves no one behind.”
He called on the media to support the ongoing digital reforms by telling the stories and holding institutions accountable, saying the media remains critical in amplifying progress and shaping narratives of innovation and hope.
