Nigel Farage has claimed Donald Trump knows he will become Britain’s next prime minister, as Reform UK continues to outpace Labour in the polls.
Speaking to the Harry Cole Saves the West YouTube channel, the Reform leader said Trump and his top team saw similarities between their White House operation and Reform’s insurgent rise.
“They think they see some similarities in what they’ve done and what we’ve done, and you know what, we speak the same language,” Farage said.
Reform is currently polling at over 31 per cent more than 10 points ahead of Labour and would win a general election if held tomorrow.
Labour trails at 20.4 per cent, the Conservatives at 17.3, and the Liberal Democrats at 13.3.
Farage praised Trump’s deep emotional soft spot for Britain, citing the president’s Scottish family ties.
He said Trump had remarked that Sir Keir Starmer could only beat him “if he’s tough on borders, tough on law and order, and drills lots of oil and gas in the North Sea.”
The comments come ahead of Trump’s bilateral meeting and joint press conference with Starmer at Chequers on Thursday, following a business reception hosted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
Although Trump has called Farage a friend for life and campaigned with him during the 2016 and 2020 US elections, the two will not meet during the state visit. Farage confirmed he was not invited to Wednesday’s state banquet, though he said he had recently spoken with senior US officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Reform has enjoyed major momentum, gaining control of 12 local authorities in May’s county elections and now targeting breakthroughs in next year’s Welsh, Scottish, and council polls.
Farage urged supporters to prepare for a possible general election as early as 2027, as Labour struggles with scandals, weak growth, and rising NHS waiting lists.
