The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party has issued a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu over the worsening security situation in the country, urging him to take decisive action or step down from office.
In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Tony Akeni, accused Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of failing Nigerians, particularly in the area of national security.

The statement pointed to the allocation of over ₦6.5 trillion and several billions of US dollars to defence spending over the past decade, arguing that the results do not justify the investment.
It also blamed both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which held power before 2015, for Nigeria’s deepening insecurity, stating that neither party could escape responsibility.
“The principal function of government is the protection of lives and property,” the faction said.
“If President Tinubu cannot deliver this, he should sack Nuhu Ribadu, reconfigure the armed services, step up his security governance, or do Nigerians a patriotic favour by sacking himself.”
The strong words come amid a string of violent incidents across several states, further fuelling public frustration over the government’s perceived inability to address rising insecurity.
