The Federal Government, FG, has created a new online platform to combat fraud within the housing sector, allowing Nigerians to submit complaints, provide evidence, and monitor the status of their cases.
The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (FMHUD) announced the launch of the Housing Fraud Reporting Portal on Tuesday, stating that fraudulent activities will no longer be tolerated and offenders will be prosecuted.
The portal, found at https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng, is designed to be a secure and user-friendly way for the public to report incidents of fraud in real estate developments across the country.

The Ministry will review all submitted complaints in collaboration with professional organisations, law enforcement agencies, and the judicial system to ensure a thorough response.
In addition to the fraud-reporting system, the Ministry also unveiled the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System (CPCPMS).
This platform will provide real-time oversight of ongoing housing projects, evaluate contractor performance based on key metrics, and serve as a central hub for all project-related documents, payment certificates, and Bills of Quantities.
Both platforms are intended to increase transparency in real estate transactions and enhance the monitoring of housing projects nationwide.
According to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, this initiative aligns with the 2012 National Housing Policy.
The policy calls for stricter regulation of the housing industry, the certification of developers, and the protection of citizens from fraudulent individuals.
Dangiwa added that the policy also mandates an effective legal and regulatory framework to oversee housing delivery and ensure that all professionals in the construction field are properly registered.

Marcus Amiolemen, Deputy Director and Head of the Ministry’s ICT Department, confirmed that the fraud portal was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure that reported cases are effectively tracked and investigated.
He stated that the new platforms are a testament to the Ministry’s commitment to citizen protection and improved service delivery.
