Over 5,300 residents of Lagos State have completed the state’s skill acquisition programme, marking a significant step toward economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on his X page on Thursday congratulated the graduates and emphasised the importance of their newly acquired skills as a foundation for their future.
The graduates received training in a variety of vocations, including fashion design, welding, carpentry, and cosmetology.
According to the governor, these skills are “lifelines” that will enable the graduates to “take the next step toward independence.”

While celebrating the graduates’ achievement, Sanwo-Olu stressed that technical skills alone are not enough for long-term success.
He urged them to complement their new abilities with discipline, perseverance, and integrity, noting that these qualities are crucial for sustaining what they build.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in such programs to create opportunities for all residents.
He expressed his belief that the graduates have the potential to become entrepreneurs and create “meaningful” ventures for themselves and others.
Sanwo-Olu challenged the graduates to make their achievement count, not just for today, but for the future they are building.
