The Ekiti State Government has denied claims that Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other top state officials are planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The state government described the reports as falsehoods from mischief makers.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Olayinka Oyebode, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media

Mr Oyebode refuted a circulating online report alleging that the immediate past governor, Kayode Fayemi, was leading Mr Oyebanji and other APC leaders in the state to the ADC.
“The attention of the governor has been drawn to a false and misleading report being circulated online by some unscrupulous individuals.
“The faceless individuals in the said report alleged that Governor Oyebanji, alongside some leaders and office holders in the state, were being led to the ADC by Dr Kayode Fayemi. This is nothing but a tissue of lies,” he said.
Mr Oyebode stressed that both Mr Oyebanji and the public officeholders mentioned remain committed to the APC, with no links to, or plans to join, the ADC.
He noted that Mr Fayemi recently attended an APC caucus meeting in Iyin-Ekiti, where both President Bola Tinubu and Mr Oyebanji were endorsed for second terms—a development widely reported in the media.
He further highlighted Governor Oyebanji’s long-standing commitment to the progressive political movement in Ekiti, noting that he has remained within the fold since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
Mr Oyebode accused certain unnamed political actors of attempting to drive a wedge between the governor and Mr Tinubu by exploiting Mr Oyebanji’s association with Mr Fayemi.
However, he expressed confidence in the President’s ability to “see through their shenanigans and hidden agenda.”

He urged the people of Ekiti to disregard what he described as “a childish media attack,” linking the report to the desperation of some governorship aspirants who, according to him, are unable to present credible candidatures to the public.
“With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having announced the date for the primary election, we expect these desperate politicians to boldly market their candidacies to party members and Ekitikete instead of resorting to social media propaganda,” he added.
