Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the recruitment of 2,000 teachers to fill vacancies in the state’s public schools.
The approval includes 1,000 teachers for secondary schools and another 1,000 for primary schools.
This decision follows the successful completion of the recruitment process by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), which had screened thousands of applicants last year.

In a statement issued on Monday, March 3, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor expressed his concern over the shortage of teaching staff, particularly in rural areas, and emphasised that the recruitment process would prioritise the needs of understaffed schools across the state.
The statement noted that the successful candidates for secondary school positions would begin their documentation immediately, while the final stages of the recruitment for primary school teachers are still underway.
The recruitment exercise, which began last year with TESCOM and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), is part of the governor’s ongoing efforts to improve education in the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to enhancing the education sector was also reflected in his recent approval of N633 million for the registration of students for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), ensuring that Ondo students are not left behind in their educational pursuits.
Additionally, the governor has taken steps to elevate higher education in the state by approving the upgrade of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, to the University of Agriculture and Agribusiness, Owo, further demonstrating his dedication to improving both primary, secondary, and higher education in Ondo State.
