The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to education as a catalyst for national development.
The former Anambra State Governor in a statement on his X page highlighted the importance of equipping young learners with essential tools at Saint Augustine College in Mayo-Belwa.
Saint Augustine College, Obi provided the school with 10 laptops and a printer to enhance students’ computer literacy and proficiency in information technology.

Speaking to the students, Obi emphasised, “Supporting education by equipping students with the right tools and resources is not just a responsibility but a necessity for building a better future.”
He praised their enthusiasm for learning, calling it both encouraging and inspiring, and stressed that bridging the digital divide is critical for fostering innovation and excellence.
Earlier, Obi visited Almajiri children participating in the Feed and Read Programme run by the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola.

Engaging with the children, he noted the transformative impact of the programme on their literacy, numeracy, and confidence.
“Programmes like this highlight the crucial role of inclusive education in addressing societal inequalities and unlocking the potential of every child, regardless of their background or circumstances,” he said.
He described education as a tool for empowerment, growth, and national development, asserting that initiatives like these are vital for a sustainable and prosperous future.
He expressed his optimism, stating, “By harnessing every hidden potential, we make the future in a new Nigeria even more possible.”
He underlined his vision for a Nigeria where education drives progress, bridges societal gaps, and empowers the next generation to build a better future.
